My Leadership

I have experienced leadership in my internship at Verizon this summer due to the fact that it was a management in training program. As interns it was our job to learn what a good leader entails and show examples of what we learned. For example, we had to run morning sales meetings once a week. I have also experienced leadership in high school when I was captain of my tennis team. I was responsible for running all warm ups and organizing all team events. I loved it! I hope as I pursue my career I learn more and become a better leader.

My Career Vision

I read a quote recently that really struck me.  Jessica Hische said “The work you do while you procrastinate is probably the work you should be doing for the rest of your life.”  I find this applicable to my life because I work on researching weddings and ideas for events when I am supposed to be doing schoolwork!  I am fascinated with the event planning and wedding industry and hope to pursue my dream of becoming an event planner.  The internship I landed for this summer consists of exactly that.  I will be working on events for a jewelry company, Alex & Ani and could not be more excited to start working at something I love.  Working with people is definitely important to me when it comes to my career vision as well as applying my creative ideas while planning successful events.    

My Strengths

 From the Strengths Finder Assessment, I found that my strengths include woo, communication, focus, positivity and achiever.  After analyzing the meaning of each of these strengths, I agree that all of these results were accurate to my personality and explain me well.  Woo is the strength I find to be spot on in association to my personality.  Described through the Strengths Finder description, woo is the challenge of meeting new people and winning them over.  Throughout my four years at a college, I have expanded my social circle immensely from the time I started not knowing anyone.  When in a class knowing no one I tend to start a conversation with my neighbor over the simplest things. Finding common group is also an easy task for me because I love the thrill of asking questions and truly getting to know someone on a personal level. I exhibit that I am content and truly happy with my life and people have complimented me on how friendly I am.
